Cole is TWO! Where has
time gone? We were all set to celebrate
in our true Best Family Birthday Style.
I made all the invitations, the party printables and decor, had
everything ready for the candy buffet, rented the bounce house, got his Little
Monster outfit (to match the theme), and ordered the most adorable cake and
cupcakes I have ever seen. Then the
regrets came, so we had to cancel his birthday party.
BUT, being the family that we are, we didn’t let it stop
us! Yes, I canceled the bounce house,
the cake and the cupcakes. I put the
bouncy balls, bubbles, play-doh, and decorations away (we did have some of the
candy). Maybe we can use them next
year. Then we spent the day together as
a family, just the six of us. We played
outside on the trampoline. Robert had
rearranged his work schedule and worked on Sunday so he could be home all day
and Cole LOVED having his Daddy home. We
all napped together too (that was a HUGE blessing to this Mama!). We opened
presents, ate chili dogs (some of Cole’s favorite food), and played on the
trampoline some more. We baked brownies and
then celebrated more when my parents made the trip to our house after work to
see Cole. They brought cupcakes, we
shared the brownies. We laughed and
enjoyed a short visit before Cole told us night-night and fell asleep.

No, Cole’s second birthday wasn’t what I had imagined. BUT, the day was perfect for him, chasing
chickens, naps, and all!
